Health, Safety & RAMS

Operational Safety & Site-Specific RAMS Protocols

Updated September 2026

At HAG Ltd. , we deliver fully compliant, project-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for every installation, service, and repair project. Designed to meet the stringent safety and pre-qualification standards required by principal contractors and site owners, our safe systems of work ensure seamless integration into live construction sites, commercial facilities, and high-risk environments.

Health, safety and well being are fundamental to the way we operate. Through effective planning, competent personnel, robust risk management and continuous improvement, we are committed to protecting our employees, clients, contractors and members of the public on every project.

Our 4-Stage RAMS & Safe Execution Workflow

[1. Pre-Site Planning] ➔ [2. Site Arrival & Induction] ➔ [3. Cordon & Execution] ➔ [4. Handover & Housekeeping]

1. Pre-Site Project Engineering

• Custom Method Statements: Generated prior to commencement, outlining precise installation sequences, mechanical fixings, and structural interface requirements.
• Task Risk Assessments: Comprehensive risk analysis covering task-specific hazards, including work at height, manual handling, and COSHH controls.
• Site Supervision: Assignment of a dedicated, qualified site supervisor to monitor compliance and manage dynamic on-site risks.
• Dynamic Risk Assessment: Whilst project-specific RAMS are prepared before work commences, HAG engineers are trained to continually assess site conditions throughout the task. If unforeseen hazards, changes to the work scope, or environmental factors arise, work will be paused and reviewed before proceeding. This ensures control measures remain appropriate and effective throughout the project.

2. Site Arrival & Induction

  • Pre-Start Checks: Mandatory attendance at client and site inductions before work starts.
  • Management Sign-In: Direct reporting to site management and conducting pre-start equipment visual checks.
  • Welfare & Emergency Coordination: Verification of site welfare facilities and confirmation of emergency fire assembly and first-aid protocols.

3. Controlled Site Execution & Hazard Mitigation

  • Exclusion Zones: Mandatory physical cordoning (e.g. hazard tape, cones, and barriers) around the work area prior to tool or material movement.
  • Work at Height: Suitable access equipment is selected, inspected and used in accordance with task requirements, risk assessments and relevant legislation.
  • Tool Safety: All equipment is inspected before use and maintained in accordance with company procedures. Portable electrical equipment is subject to appropriate inspection and testing requirements.
  • System Testing & Interface Boundaries: Comprehensive electrical and alarm-mode operational testing. Clear hand-off protocols established with mechanical / electrical sub-contractors for main fire alarm connections.

4. Handover & Housekeeping

  • Waste Management: Complete waste extraction and segregation (metals loaded onto vehicles for transport; plastics/tapes disposed of via designated site bins).
  • Final Inspection: Joint site inspection with the site contact prior to work being signed off as complete.

RAMS Review & Approval Process

All RAMS documentation is prepared by competent personnel and reviewed before work commences. Where required, project-specific RAMS are submitted to clients, principal contractors or site managers for approval.

Engineers receive a briefing on the relevant RAMS before starting work and any significant changes to site conditions or project scope are assessed and incorporated into revised documentation where necessary.

Engineer Qualifications & Safety Standards

The competence, training and safety of our workforce are fundamental to maintaining high standards of health and safety across all projects. HAG site engineers hold valid CSCS cards appropriate to their role and participate in a comprehensive programme of health and safety training.

This includes topics such as Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height, COSHH Awareness, Environmental Awareness, Fire Safety Awareness and Noise Awareness, helping to ensure employees remain competent, informed and able to work safely in a variety of environments.

  • Mandatory PPE Compliance: Appropriate PPE is provided and worn in accordance with risk assessments, site-specific hazards and client requirements. This includes task-specific protective equipment and any additional PPE specified by the client or principal contractor, such as orange high-visibility clothing where required.
  • Tools Inspection & Testing: Portable electrical equipment is subject to routine inspection, testing and maintenance to ensure it remains safe and suitable for use
  • Access Equipment Inspection: Ladders and other access equipment are subject to regular inspection regimes and pre-use checks in accordance with company procedures and industry guidance
  • COSHH Management: HAG maintains a comprehensive COSHH assessment register covering hazardous substances used during our operations, including chemicals, consumables and hazardous by-products such as dusts, fumes and welding emissions. Appropriate control measures are implemented to minimise exposure and protect employees, contractors and others who may be affected by our work.
  • Standards Compliance & Testing: Equipment, installations and safety devices are inspected, tested and commissioned in accordance with applicable legislation, manufacturer instructions and relevant industry standards.
  • Executive Governance & Site Leadership: Overall Health & Safety policy is governed and signed off at executive board level, with direct, site-level compliance enforced by an appointed site supervisor on every project.

Safety Communication & Workforce Engagement

Health and safety is supported through regular toolbox talks, safety bulletins, training programmes and workforce consultation. HAG actively encourages employee involvement in identifying hazards, suggesting improvements and promoting safe working practices. This collaborative approach helps ensure that safety remains a shared responsibility throughout the organisation.

Incident Reporting & Continuous Improvement

HAG promotes a proactive safety culture through the reporting and investigation of accidents, incidents, hazards and near misses. Findings are reviewed to identify root causes, implement corrective actions and share lessons learned across the business. This continuous improvement approach helps maintain high standards of health and safety performance on every project.

Environmental Responsibility

HAG recognises the importance of protecting the environment alongside maintaining safe working practices. Environmental considerations are incorporated into project planning, including waste management, resource efficiency and pollution prevention measures where applicable. Materials and waste are managed responsibly, and environmental impacts are reviewed as part of ongoing business improvement initiatives.
