Updated: 2025
As a leading specialist in the door industry, HAG provide products that meet the highest safety and quality standards. In light of recent legislative changes, we want to keep you informed about the implications of UKCA and CE markings on our products.
What is it?
The UKCA marking is the new UK product marking that replaced the CE marking for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland) following Brexit.
When is it required?
The UKCA marking has been introduced for products placed on the market in Great Britain. However, as of August 2023, the CE marking remains valid indefinitely for most products. Businesses can continue using CE marking for their products, although UKCA marking may also be applied if desired.
What is it?
The CE marking indicates that a product meets EU safety, health, and environmental protection requirements.
Where is it required?
It remains essential for products sold within the European Union.
Markings Accepted:
For products placed on the market in Northern Ireland:
Products must meet EU rules and display the CE marking.
If a UK-approved body has carried out conformity assessment, the product must also carry the UKNI mark in addition to CE.
Products intended for export to the EU must be assessed by an EU-recognized body and carry only the CE mark.
| Region | Required Marking | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland) | UKCA or CE | CE marking remains valid indefinitely; UKCA marking is optional but can be used. |
| Northern Ireland | CE, and UKNI if assessed by a UK body | Products must meet EU rules. If a UK-approved body performed the assessment, the product carries both CE and UKNI marks. Exports to the EU require only CE. |
| European Union | CE | Must be assessed by an EU-recognised body; UKCA/UKNI marks are not recognised. |
What It Is:
The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) (EU) No. 305/2011 ensures that construction products, including doors and gates, meet essential safety, performance, and environmental standards for the EU market. CE marking demonstrates compliance with these requirements, covering fire safety, structural integrity, and thermal performance.
Under the CPR, each product has its own harmonised standards. Compliance is achieved through third-party testing, risk assessments, and adherence to these standards. For example, five of the 21 New Approach Directives for CE marking apply to roller shutters.
All our doors and gates comply with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) (EU) No. 305/2011, which replaced the former Construction Products Directive (CPD) 89/106/EEC. This ensures that our products meet the necessary performance, safety, and regulatory requirements for both the UK and EU markets.
We follow stringent safety and performance standards for all our doors, including compliance with EN 13241-1:2003 + A1:2011, a European standard for industrial, commercial, and garage doors and gates.
Our compliance covers a wide range of door products, including:
• Roller Shutters
• Sectional Overhead Doors
• High-Speed Doors
• Fire-Resistant Doors
• Folding and Sliding Doors
At HAG, we ensure that all products comply with UKCA and CE standards, guaranteeing legal and operational safety for users.
Ensuring compliance with UKCA, CE, and CPD/CPR standards is vital for ensuring that our products meet legal and safety requirements:
