HAG underwrites maintenance contracts for many government agencies, universities and national commercial companies for their automatic doors, gates and barrier systems. Servicing and inspection of these products should generally be done either annually or bi-annually. However, bespoke maintenance can be provided for high usage sites and areas. To support our maintenance programs, HAG provide 24 hour, 7 days a week reactive repair rates. Should an accident or fault occur, our 24/7 maintenance means a quick response back up is available to assist and minimise on costly down time.
Legal Requirement & Compliance
Growing regulation of the workplace is putting extra obligations on employers to meet the current Health and Safety Act 1974 Regulation 18(2)(B). Regulating; that all equipment, including doors and shutters, are suitable for their intended purpose, are in good repair and are subject to a monitored programme of maintenance.
The Equality Act 2010, which includes the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), states that reasonable provision should be made to ensure buildings have safe, effective access to those who can expect to use them. Local authorities expect public access buildings to comply with The Equality Act 2010 and have powers to fine and prosecute.
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), states that reasonable provision should be made to ensure buildings have safely effective access to those who can expect to use them. Local authorities expect public access buildings to comply with the DDA act and have powers to fine and prosecute. The Disability Discrimination Control Guide from the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) is available here. The full act can be viewed from the Directgov website.
HAG can help provide legal compliance through a planned maintenance programme. Each plan is individually written to the site requirements and usage with documented reports stored at each location to provide evidence and confirmation for Health and Safety inspections. Safety equipment, photocells, safety edge and sensor assessments will be carried out on automatic closing doors, barriers and gates.
Any product that does not operate as designed (i.e. heavy lifting or excessive force required) that may cause injury will be highlighted and a resolution recommended. If use/site conditions have changed over the lifespan of the product, HAG will recommend improvements in-line with the current legislations and directives.
