Overview:
Bonny Island, on the Atlantic coast of Nigeria, is where the huge multi-billion dollar Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) industry and several oil and gas companies, including ExxonMobil are established. The NLNG was the first Liquefied Natural Gas project in Nigeria and accounts for roughly 7 percent of the world’s total LNG supply. Shell owns a 25.6% share of the project along with the North Nigerian Petroleum Corporation (49%), Total (15%) and ENI (10.4%). The Nigerian project at Bonny Island has been constantly expanded since its incorporation in 1989 and beginning commercial operation in 1999.
The Project:
HAG was tasked by the main contractor Bilfinger Berger on behalf of Shell to provide door security for their premises. HAG supplied and installed Armourguard & Alishield Range roller shutters to numerous locations in the Niger delta to enhance the security of the Shell premises. The roller shutters were specifically chosen due to their size and high level of durability which ensured that HAG could deliver on the project brief. Combining the versatile strength of the Armourguard and the aesthetic of the Alishield roller shutter finished the project to protect from vandalism, theft and any other unauthorised entry.
HAG also trained local representatives of the main contractor to enable them to install HAG products on a supply only basis, maintaining HAG’s presence at the Bonny Island plant.
