Parc Gelli Werdd – state of the art sustainable industrial units & BREEAM excellent

HAG Ltd, the Welsh Government & Carmarthenshire County Council collaborate on sustainable industrial development at Parc Gelli Werdd, achieving a BREEAM Excellent rating

THE PROJECT

Introducing our latest collaboration – Parc Gelli Werdd in South Wales, showcasing 15 Q doors – the pinnacle of resilient, superbly insulated industrial door systems.

These bi-folding Q Doors combine exceptional thermal insulation (U-value 1.08 W/m²K) with superior structural resilience, engineered for demanding industrial applications including advanced manufacturing, agri-food technology, and energy & environmental sectors.

Each door features a galvanised steel reinforced stretch-frame encapsulating CFC-free polyurethane foam, providing both rigidity and optimal insulation. Multi-dimensional adjustable hinges and precision-engineered corner sealing ensure minimal air leakage, achieving performance levels three times above the top European class 3 standards. Electric models integrate automatic locking and rapid motor operation (closing in 8–12 seconds), while manual units employ secure cremone bolts or optional cylinder locks.

Designed for adaptability, the doors can span up to 21,000 mm (manual) or 5,500 mm (electric) in width and 6,000 mm in height, accommodating large-scale industrial access requirements. Enhanced security options (SR3/SR4 equivalent) are available, utilising reinforced frames, multi-point locking, and heavy-duty fixings to resist forced entry. Optional double-glazed insulated windows and configurable panel layouts allow for tailored daylighting and operational flexibility.

Parc Gelli Werdd’s Q Doors complement a sustainability-led development incorporating Active Building and Passivhaus principles. The robust thermal and airtight performance of these doors aligns seamlessly with the project’s net zero in-use objectives, contributing to its BREEAM “Excellent” and EPC “A” ratings. Wind load resistance (Class 5), water tightness (Class 3), and air permeability (Class 5) further ensure durability under challenging environmental conditions.

THE PRODUCT

Q Doors  deliver industry-leading thermal performance, with U-values of 1.08 W/m²K, providing substantial long-term energy savings while enhancing both structural security and architectural integrity. Constructed from galvanised steel frames filled with CFC-free polyurethane insulation, the doors combine exceptional rigidity, durability, and insulation efficiency, making them ideal for demanding industrial environments.

As a highly adaptable bi-folding system, Q Doors can be installed externally, optimising internal bay space and accommodating large-scale equipment access. Extensive customisation options include insulated double-glazed vision panels, RAL or BS colour matching, and the choice of manual or rapid motorised operation, with electric models achieving full cycle times of 8–12 seconds.

Sustainability-focused features include optional integrated personnel doors, allowing controlled access without opening the full door leaf, significantly reducing energy loss and operational carbon footprint. The advanced sealing system of Q Doors surpasses European Class 3 air permeability standards by threefold, maintaining less than 1.5 m³/m²/h leakage at 150 Pa—ensuring exceptional airtightness under extreme conditions.

These capabilities, combined with robust multi-point locking, reinforced hinges, and modular panel construction, make Q Doors a technically advanced solution for high-performance, energy-efficient industrial facilities.
