As part of the construction of a brand new centre in Keynsham, HAG were recently contracted to install overhead doors and roller shutters at Hicks Gate Fire Station. The new station is replacing Brislington fire station and the part-time station in Keynsham as part of plans to save an annual sum of £4.5 million after funding cuts from central Government. Industrial doors were required at the new premises to keep vehicles stored onsite secure.
Investing in the future
Construction of the new fire station began in March 2015. Once complete, it will allow for improved provision of fire services to Keynsham, Brislington and surrounding areas. The station will have staff available 24/7 to deal with emergencies, and is located near major road networks. This allows for improved services in Bristol and a quicker response to Bath fire services when they require support crews.
Sectional overhead doors
HAG installed two varieties of doors at the premises, Armourguard roller shutters and sectional overhead doors. The sectional overhead doors allow for secure storage of vehicles and for easy deployment during emergency callouts as they can be linked to traffic lights, allowing for safe movement of their vehicles.
The doors also have thermal properties that reduce heat loss and help maintain internal temperature, reducing annual energy bills and overhead costs.
Continual Maintenance
HAG has been contracted to provide maintenance of the installed doors to ensure they are fully operational. As part of the programme to improve Avon Fire and Rescue Service, HAG has also been contracted to supply and install the same doors at another of the new stations being constructed and will be providing doors for the new Temple Back station in the centre of Bristol.
