Fire Curtain BS 8524

The Fireguard XR180 fire curtain is tested & fully compliant with BS 8524-1. This fire-resisting curtain gives up to (E) 180 minutes of fire protection with the added benefit of up to (W) 30 minutes of irradiance shield depending on size. This fire curtain can be installed in suspended or solid ceilings. Unlimited widths can be obtained by overlapping curtains.

Components included

Components included as standard: curtain, guides, bottom rail, box, battery backup, control unit, motor, and control box with batteries.

Choice of standard powder coat finishes to headbox, side guides, bottom bar.

Arrangement

The Fireguard XR180 fire curtain can be installed face or reveal fix to steel or masonry.

Curtain material

The fabric is manufactured from stainless steel, wire reinforced, woven glass fibre fabric. Coated on each side with silver polyurethane.

Metal tabs are sewn into the fabric to retain the fabric in the side guide.

Finish

Fire curtains are naturally silver grey or charcoal finish, depending on the specification.

Guide rails

The Fireguard XR180 has two steel side guides of 100mm x 50mm. These are fixed to the structure using a c-channel. The overall profile is 130 mm x 57 mm.

Head plates

Two galvanised steel head plates hold the shaft with the rolled curtain. Sizing is dependent on the height of the application.

Up to 5 metres high, 210 mm x 240 mm.

Head box

The Fire Curtain assembly comprises a box housing at high level, in which sits the shaft, motor, and rolled Curtain. The box is attached to channel section guides at each end.

Bottom rail

A galvanised steel ‘T’ bottom rail provides the weight needed for the curtain to self-close.

Operation

The system is held in the open position by a single-phase electric 24v DC motor. When a fire is detected, or power is lost, the motor will disengage and allow the gravity failsafe to activate.

Controls

The control panel is fitted with LEDs to indicate faults and operation. Batteries are also supplied for battery back-up.

Various options are available to ensure compliance, dependent on the site’s fire protection requirements:

These fire-resisting curtains are suitable for internal applications.

Regular maintenance is required for all safety products by law. Maintenance contracts are available on request.
