Do you find specifiers generally understand the technical requirements?

Knowledge varies. Some projects arrive with very clear and technically detailed requirements, but there are also situations where the level of understanding of fire, security, thermal or acoustic performance is limited.

A client may know they need a fire-rated or security-rated product, for example, without necessarily understanding the different levels of performance available or what is required for their particular application.

HAG’s role is to provide technical advice and help ensure the selected product is appropriate for the requirement that has been established. It is not HAG’s responsibility to determine the wider building design requirements.
