HAG works from the performance requirements established for the project and checks that the proposed product and configuration are appropriate for those requirements.

This can include fire resistance, security ratings, thermal performance, acoustic requirements and relevant standards or certification.

However, HAG does not determine the overall performance requirements for the building. For example, the required fire rating should be established through the project’s fire safety strategy and by the relevant fire safety professional. HAG can advise on products that meet the stated requirement, but the wider responsibility for determining where and why that performance is required remains with the project’s design team and relevant consultants.
