We all take things for granted when they are working properly, but if your industrial doors start playing up it can be inconvenient and even dangerous. We recommend that all of our customers take out a regular service and maintenance contract after the one year standard warranty that we offer with our product range.
Failure is not an Option
Under the current Health and Safety Act 1974 Regulation 18(2)(B), you have a legal obligation to ensure that all mechanical doors are maintained regularly. Failure to do so could invalidate your warranty and in some cases even result in prosecution.
As doors and shutters get older, they inevitably undergo wear and tear. They are prone to accidents, especially where large transport vehicles are involved in backing in and out of spaces. Vandalism and burglary are also inevitable factors that have to be taken into consideration for maintenance purposes.
What’s involved?
This is where our planned maintenance schedules are invaluable. From installation, our trained engineers create an individual tick list for each client. From this information, we devise a bespoke planned maintenance schedule for the client, with flexible terms between one to four years.
By taking out a HAG planned maintenance schedule, you will benefit from:
Regular inspections and replacement of worn components
Doors and shutters that are safe to use
Documentation that complies with current government legislation
Warranties that can be extended as a result of regular servicing.
Catering for Different Needs
As one of our HAG Contracts Managers explains, each client has site specific requirements for maintenance.
“Compare two of our long term customers – Kent Fire Service and a major pharmacy company,” he comments “The security and maintenance required by the fire service could literally be a matter of life or death … imagine the implications should a door fail to open when an appliance needs to exit quickly. Our maintenance service contract with this customer involves a six monthly check of all relevant issues concerned with safety, access and performance”.
“Our contract with a well know national pharmacy has been tailored to the function of the HAG shutters, auto doors and barriers. With properties that house mental health patients, the maintenance contract ensures that our engineers check for misuse and vandalism, the most common areas of concern.”
Cost Implications
While all of the doors and shutters we provide are of the highest quality, they need to be serviced regularly to ensure that they continue to work effectively and meet safety standards.
Regular maintenance needn’t cost you an arm and a leg. A small, regular investment is likely to result in fewer impromptu repairs at inconvenient times and at much greater expense. Ultimately, regular servicing should extend the operational life expectancy of your product and reduce the risk of revenue loss should your doors or shutters stop working.
Whether yours is a small, family-run business, a local government organisation or a huge blue-chip corporation, we want to ensure that your business premises is safe and secure long after we have installed your doors or shutters. If minor damage is not fixed right away, further deterioration could occur and this could lead to costlier repairs in the long run.
